The Role

The Opportunity

St Mark’s CofE School is a mainstream junior school for 360 pupils aged 7-11 years and next door, on the same campus is Wyndham Park Infants’ School, a mainstream infant school with 270 pupils between the ages of 4-7. Both schools have a SEND resource base and both schools work in collaboration together. As a developing Multi Academy Trust, and due to structure review, now is an exciting time to join us here at St Marks CofE Junior School as we look to appoint a Deputy Headteacher (DH) to join our Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Your Role

As a quality DH, passionate about children’s development, including that of our SEND pupils, the attached job description will detail your role in full, but at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead the development and establishment of outstanding teaching and learning systems, approaches, practice and collaborations across all areas of both schools.
  • Act in the interim as a SENDCO 0.4FTE, working collaboratively with other SLT colleagues to facilitate this role effectively
  • Work collaboratively to ensure use and development of effective assessment systems across both schools, ensuring all staff are skilled at accurate assessment processes and moderation to support analysis and action planning.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of high aspiration for what can be achieved – ensuring strategic allocation and awareness in decision making processes.
  • Take a lead role in preparing, monitoring and evaluating school performance including the Schools Development and Improvement Plan (SIP) and Self-Evaluation Form (SEF)
  • Be an active advocate for the development of inclusive and collaborative provision and approaches across the school and the Trust.
  • Proactively work with staff and student teachers through coaching and mentoring to ensure high quality understanding and implementation of teaching and learning approaches

and practices and the ongoing improvement, aspiration and adaptation of these by all.

 

Your Experience

Our DH person specification attached will contain the full areas of skills and experience, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:

  • ·        Hold QTS
  • ·        Be working towards or will be interested in gaining a relevant NPQ
  • ·        Successful leadership and management experience
  • ·        Proven and relevant teaching experience with the knowledge and skills to improve and develop teaching quality and standards.
  • ·        Experience of working with a range of pupils, including those with SEND.
  • ·        Experience of using data/ other information to understand and better meet need for children.
  • ·        Demonstrable experience of successful collaboration with others that has led to improved performance/ student outcomes.
